The Northern New York Volunteer Firemen's Association (NNYVFA) has a long-standing tradition of supporting volunteer firefighting services in the region. Established in 1945 as a not-for-profit organization, the NNYVFA is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and skills of its members, promoting fellowship among volunteer firemen, and working to preserve life and property through fire prevention and safety measures.

The association operates within several counties in Northern New York and holds an annual convention, a significant event for members to gather, share knowledge, and elect officers. The 127th annual convention was recently hosted in Lowville, NY, continuing the rich tradition of these gatherings.

NNYVFA also plays an important role in recognizing the contributions of volunteer firefighters, honoring members through awards such as Firefighter of the Year.
